Custom Air Conditioning is a family owned business which was established in 1981 by Jim and Donna as they settled into Raleigh, NC to raise their family.
Their youngest son, Richard, working early on as a teenager in the field had became very familiar with the trade. After many years of experience in the field, he became hands on with the everyday managing of the office and onsite work duties. Richard received his HVAC degree at the young age of nineteen and his HVAC contracting license shortly thereafter.
Richard strives to maintain a positive small business relationship and atmosphere with his customers and employees and has built his reputation on these standards.

Tips to extend the life of your HVAC System
- Changing the filters regularly is one of the easiest and best things you can do for your system. Keeping the system clean reduces energy consumption and can extend the life of your system.
- Don't let grass, trees and bushes grow too close to the outdoor unit. A reduction in airflow through the outdoor unit will increase energy consumption and add undue stress to the components in the system.
- Regular routine maintenance is another way to increase performance, efficiency and reduce the likelihood of breakdowns which will extend the life of the system.
When shopping for a new unit here are some things to keep in mind:
- Look for a SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) and AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) with a higher rating. A higher rating will be a more efficient system.
- Consider how well any accessories will work with the new system, programmable smart thermostats, air cleaners, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, etc.
